Reports to: Care Manager / Team Leader

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Care Assistant to provide high-quality personal care and practical support to individuals in their own homes. The role involves supporting clients to maintain independence, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life, whether through scheduled homecare visits or live-in support arrangements.


Key Responsibilities

Personal Care

  • Assist clients with daily personal hygiene, including washing, bathing, showering, oral care, and grooming.

  • Support with dressing, continence care, toileting, and incontinence management.

  • Aid with mobility, including transfers, use of hoists, bed/chair movement, and safe manual handling.

Daily Living Support

  • Support meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring dietary needs are followed.

  • Assist with household tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment.

  • Accompany clients to appointments, community activities, or social engagements.

Live-In Care Duties (where applicable)

  • Provide 24-hour support according to a rota or live-in schedule.

  • Monitor wellbeing and ensure the home environment remains safe and comfortable.

  • Offer companionship, emotional support, and reassurance.

Medication Support

  • Prompt or administer medication in line with training and company policy.

  • Record all medication given accurately and report any concerns to the Care Manager.

Record Keeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate daily notes, MAR charts, and incident reports.

  • Report any safeguarding concerns, changes in condition, or risks immediately.

Compliance & Professional Standards

  • Follow the Care Act, CQC regulations, and company policies at all times.

  • Respect confidentiality, dignity, and diversity of all clients.

  • Participate in training, supervision, and ongoing professional development.


Requirements

Essential

  • Caring, patient, and empathetic attitude.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Right to work in the UK.

  • Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS check.

  • Flexibility to work various shifts (including evenings, weekends, or live-in).

Desirable

  • Previous experience in care (homecare, residential, or live-in).

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (or working toward it).

  • Training in medication, moving & handling, or first aid.
